In Genesis 49 and Numbers 24 we see the Torah's story has a happy ending. However, Genesis 3:15 not only prepares the reader of the glories of the coming Messiah-King, but also paves the ways for appreciating the suffering of this coming Messiah-King. God's purposes will come to pass, but the redemption of creation will come at great suffering and death.
