US Close 23 Jun 16: US markets lower ahead on IMF downgrade and low oil ahead of BREXIT

US sharemarkets gave back early gains and closed mildly weaker on Wednesday. New polling in the UK suggested that the  camp to "leave" the EU had gained ascendancy adding a cautious tone to trading. The CBOE Volatility index jumped 14.6% overnight. Tesla Motors fell 9.2% after making an offer to buy SolarCity in a deal worth as much as US$2.8 billion. The Dow Jones index fell by 49 points or 0.3%. The S&P 500 index fell by 0.2% while the Nasdaq lost 10 points or 0.2%.
