Market Close 6 Jan 16: Miners & banks weigh on the market

The ASX 200 has fallen 1.2%, held down by a 2.5% drop in the materials sector and a 1.2% loss in the financial sector. The selling worsened in afternoon trade following news North Korea had successfully carried out a nuclear weapons test.
