Social Security Fairness Act Signed Into Law on January 5, 2025

If you are retired from the federal government and part of the civil service retirement system, retired from a community college, K-12, or a retired firefighter, police officer,  or retired from a state agency or municipality, this may be some very good news for you.  The Social Security Fairness Act of 2023 was signed into law on January 5, 2025.  The act eliminates the Windfall Elimination Period WEP and the Government Pension Offset GPO.  The bottom line is you could be entitled to significant retroactive monetary reimbursement and an increase in your Social Security benefit going forward.
