Morning Report 15 Dec 20: ASX set for a weaker start

US sharemarkets were mixed on Monday. Sentiment was initially boosted by the launch of a nationwide Covid-19 vaccine campaign with the Dow Jones index up by 279 points -hitting an all-time high. But major indexes pared gains after New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio warned the city could experience a “full shutdown” soon. The Dow Jones index closed down by 185 points or 0.6%. The S&P 500 index fell by 0.4%. But the Nasdaq index was up by 62 points or 0.5%.
