Pastor Phil Kniss encouraged us to not be so heavenly minded that we are no earthly good. We are to have our minds set on "things above" even while we live fully as new creations in this world. Pastor Phil encouraged us to "be who we are", oriented to the risen Christ, with a sense of direction and purpose. But even as we do this, we keep both feet firmly planted on this earth, where God's Kingdom is emerging. In a land of idols - things that beg us to worship them - God calls us to live among the idols as aliens, a counter-cultural community.
