Today was day 1 of the trial against Tim DeChristopher, so-called Bidder 70, whose on trial for disrupting a federal oil and gas lease auction in which he bid on parcels but never paid the $1.7 million he needed to cover for his bids. He has stated publicly that his action was a purposeful disruption of what he sees as the continuation of climate change and environmental destruction.
