LeDayne McLeese Polaski is staff person with the Baptist Peace Fellowship and works with Churches Supporting Churches, the organization through which Park View Mennonite Church has been paired with Christian Baptist Church in New Orleans. 6 years after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, an emergency situation continues, but many people, perhaps most of this country, have forgotten this. Pastor LeDayne shared with the congregation stories of pain and hope from the people of the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans. These stories, she said, are sign posts of the will to rebuild, of the deep joy and faith in God that people in New Orleans have. And as we and other congregations partner with churches in New Orleans, we also become sign posts of God's work in this world. We MUST pay attention to the sign posts around us!
