Somewhere in the middle of the night, I pulled the recorder partially out of my pocket and tried to keep the microphone uncovered.
If it sounds as if there are a lot of empty minutes of sound, please remember that it’s happening at night, when people are supposed to be sleeping. For that kind of coughing to be happening every few minutes; what do you think that would be like?
What usually happens is that one person will start coughing, which is the signal to other would-be harassers that it’s time to start being harassing. If there are coughs that seem quieter, in the background, those are people on the other side of the room, encouraging the coughers who are nearest to me.
It goes on all night. There might be times of half an hour or an hour when even the harassers feel that they need some sleep; however, many of them seem to feel that it’s worth it to deprive themselves of sleep just so that they can try to bother me and now, also, other women whom they want to abuse.
This is the kind of thing that I’ve been dealing with, every day, since the first week of December, 2010, after the first few days that I was in the hospital. In addition to patients, there were staff that used to do the coughing thing, even outside of the door of my room at night.
Everyone in the conglomerate already knows what I’ve been going through. Since I’m always being followed, they can’t have missed it. They know that this, and worse, is what the coughing sounds like.
I’m not sure what the woman saying “Oh s---“ is saying that about; that’s near the end of the recording.
Sarcasm Alert: Isn’t it fabulous that having the recorder in my pocket meant it was close to my stomach, so you can hear the gurgling of my stomach at various times? It’s too bad; however, I don’t think it would be a good idea to try to edit sound from the recordings. It’s not as if I never have enough to do, and the goal here is authenticity, no? It’s me, trying to sleep, at night.
The snoring isn’t me; I don’t snore.
