Media Piracy

This is the first podcast of The Fine Line Between Geek & Hipster.  I interview two professors of the Communications Department at SUNY Plattsburgh about media piracy in the television and film industries.  In the first, I discuss the effect that piracy has had on the quality of programming available to consumers, trends in the type of films that producers are releasing, and the effect that streaming services have over this market with Dr. Rao, a Professor of Communication at SUNY Plattsburgh.  In the second, I speak with Mr. Ensel, an Associate Professor and Communications Department Chair at SUNY Plattsburgh, about the differences between music downloading versus television or film downloading, advertising in television and film to gain more revenue, and if piracy is the effect of rising media costs.
