Time to Contemplate Time

Next week will be 2012. On the one hand, the year just sped by. On the other, it took a whole year to pass by. ----more---- And it’s not just perception. Time really does pass at different speeds. That’s because time is relative to gravity. Or in lay terms, time passes slower in heavier gravity and goes faster in lighter gravity. Satellites in space have to be constantly recalibrated to coordinate with earth time as a result. Why does this matter? It doesn’t really. It’s just the time of year that we are supposed to contemplate the passing of time. So I am.
