From 1987 to 1990, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania all expressed their frustrations against the Soviet Union simply by singing songs originally banned by the Soviet. On May 14th of 1988, the people of Estonia gathered together to join hands at the Tartu Pop Music festival and sing “Five Patriotic Songs”.
