Episode #411 - The Daughters of St. Mary of Providence

Father Anthony is taking the day off, Father Tom, Tony and Cristina are on the program today along with Sisters of the Daughters of Saint Mary of Providence.  Father Loya talks with Sister Darlene Johnson. (Sister Ann Schaeffer who runs the soup kitchen here at St. Stan's is a member of this order.) Sister Darlene talks about the the history of this Italian order in Chicago, their founder and their work here. They spread "the culture of charity" in over 14 countries. Here is the order's web linkhttp://www.dsmpic.org/ Their founder is St. Louis Guanella. Father Loya calls monastics, the Delta Force, the Marines,  the Green Berets, the Navy Seals, the front line troops of the Church. The sisters tell of their work with the disabled and the elderly. Sister Darlene describes a typical day in her life and her life as a "spouse" of Christ. The sisters are always looking for "recruits."  Be open to the possiblity of of the religious life.  There is fulfillment in total giving to Christ.
