And when we do something that is less than wonderful, we are bothered by our own less than stellar behavior.
This is why we resort to rationalizing our behavior.
We are trying to prove to ourselves that, despite all appearances, what we did that wasn’t all that wonderful was really actually quite justified.
Perhaps the other person was being rude to us.
Or maybe, they are advocating for a political position we t...

It doesn’t matter why, in order to save our own image of ourselves as a good person, we have to find fault with the other person to justify our poor treatment of them.
As hard as it is, whenever you find yourself getting angry at someone else.
It is a good idea to look at your own behavior and consider, am I mad at this other person because I was the person being rude?
Maybe you were or maybe you weren’t.
All I know is that if you aren’t willing to ask yourself that question, you are probably rationalizing.
