Don’t Assume

I gave a talk a few weeks back to a group of new college students.

Off the cuff I made a Dr Who reference.

And for those of you who don’t know Dr Who, it’s a tv show about a time lord who travels through time in a police box.

It’s way cooler than it sounds.

Anyway, out of 100 kids, NONE of them knew the reference.

Which was a bummer because my off the cuff remark was rather funny.

Anyway, lesson learned.

Don’t assume people know the same things you do.

They don’t.

So always check first before you make a sci fi reference regardless of how cool it is.
