Restoring the soul in the age of information overload

Russ Eanes is the Executive Director of MennoMedia. His job requires him to be in front of a screen much of the day. Russ pointed out that much of our lives now involve “screen time”. But we need to find ways to nurture a stillness at our centers. In Mark 6: 30-34, Jesus was leading a frenetic life and modeled the practice of seeking out solitude. Today we face “information overload”. How does this affect our spirits and souls? This is the question Russ Eanes explored. He suggested we implement an “info or screen sabbath” to make space for silence and reflection. The question he left us with was, “How do we, as a community, determine what is appropriate technology? Are we being discerning?”
