Episode #487 - We Look at Cardinal Dolan’s Prayers at the Conventions

Father Tom Koys is sitting in for Father Anthony Bus' along with Cristina and Tony. Father Tom compares and contrasts the different versions of the Cardinal's benediction at the RNC and DNC. Freedom must be tethered to truth and not the freedom of a rebellious teenager. Father Tom revisits the words of Thomas Jefferson quoted by Cardinal Dolan. Jefferson was asking God to bless a republic rather than a monarch and has equal stature.  Father Tom makes the point of Jefferson being a deist vs. being a Catholic. The possible problem with the republic is that it takes the viewpoint of a deist rather than as a Catholic. We need to address the topic of religion in the public discourse.
