Dr. James S. Cutsinger is Professor of Theology and Religious Thought at the University of South Carolina, where he has been honored with several teaching awards, including most recently the Michael J. Mungo Distinguished Professor of the Year for 2011. A prolific writer and editor, he is a widely recognized authority on the Sophia Perennis and perennialist school of comparative religious thought. His books include Paths to the Heart: Sufism and the Christian East, and Not of This World: A Treasury of Christian Mysticism. He is perhaps best known for his work on the Swiss philosopher Frithjof Schuon.
