We thank you, our listeners, for your loyalty. Father Anthony talks about the first Thanksgiving, based upon the original 1621 feast. The origin of the feast began in England. In Oct., 1789 George Washington proclaimed a day of Thanksgiving and  Lincoln proclamation as making the last Thursday in November. Roosevelt moved the holiday to the next to the last Thursday of November to appease merchants to give more shopping time before Christmas.Congress eventually settled the date as the 4th Thursday of November. We talk about turkey becoming the meal of the holiday.
