What does Wikipedia have to say about “Evangelicalism”? Evangelicalism de-emphasizes ritual and emphasizes the piety of the individual, requiring him or her to meet certain active commitments, including:· The need for personal conversion, or being "born again"
· A high regard for biblical authority
· An emphasis on teachings that proclaim the saving death and resurrection of the Son of God, Jesus Christ
· Actively expressing and sharing the gospel
Questions for Reflection and Discussion
1. Read 1 Timothy 4 . How would you explain this in your own words?
2. What comes to mind when you hear the word “evangelical”? What about “evangelist”? Both words refer to sharing good news. How can the church be better at sharing the Good News of Christ? How can you be better at it?
3. Who do you know who needs to hear some good news right now? How can God use you to help them?
