Welcoming God into our hidden corners

Deuteronomy 26:1-11 begins to answer the question of who we can trust. The God who brought the Israelites out of Egypt can be relied on to keep us safe and secure. Romans 10:8b-13 also highlights a God who offers salvation to all who call on the name of the Lord. Pastor Barbara Moyer Lehman emphasized God as our source of salvation and then looked at the temptation of Jesus recorded in Luke 4:1-13. Lent is our annual invitation to strengthen our faith and draw closer to God. We can work at this by examining where we are tempted, where we are being drawn away from God. Often we face wilderness experiences where we are tempted and where God feels far away. During Lent we examine these wilderness corners and invite God to shed light to remove obstacles that keep us from returning to God.
