If you want to learn about how social issues affect real people, you need look no further than how they are affecting your neighbors. The benefit of this “start local” approach is that as you learn what is happening locally; You begin to learn about the interrelated impact state and national legislation has on local issues. The other benefit of starting local is that you can test out solutions to see if they actually work. And if they do, that’s when you take them global. If you want to change the world, start locally and then go global.
