The cost of rejecting reality

One of the most powerful aspects of the Humanist philosophy is that it encourages us to take a reality based approach to problem solving.

To Humanists, accepting reality is not negotiable.----more---- The reason? Because we understand the high price that is paid when we reject reality. Rejecting reality costs us socially by making friends into enemies or by allowing bad people to take advantage of us. Rejecting reality costs us emotionally by failing to protect ourselves from reality or by isolating ourselves from those who can help us. Rejecting reality also impairs our ability to problem solve effectively because instead of solving our real problems, we spend all our time and energy pursuing phantom problems. Stop rejecting reality. Even if you don’t like it, you will do much better and save yourself a lot of grief if you embrace it.
