A Public Discussion of Secret Plans On the Leid Stories agenda today: The American Civil Liberties Union’s National Security Project, a three-pronged legal attack against the          U.S. government’s expansive covert surveillance of citizens; Israel’s plan to deport 60,000 African refugees (the state calls them “infiltrators”), most of them from Eritrea and Sudan, to undisclosed third countries; President Obama’s decision to arm rebels seeking to topple Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria again brings Benghazi into focus—since the purpose of the U.S. “diplomatic compound and annex” that were attacked last Sept. 11, claiming the lives of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three others were said to have been operating covertly as a CIA transshipment point for weapons to rebel groups in Syria.
