What caused the shooting of Trayvon Martin?

Fear. ----more----

Zimmerman was afraid. 

The question is, should he have been?

Given that Trayvon was headed home in a storm with a pack of skittles, probably not.

But fear is rarely rational.

We all have fear of other people, to a certain extent. 

It’s hard wired in our brain.

The challenge for those of us who strive to be Humanists is how to overcome our fears so that we can judge people as individuals and not on our preconceived notions of who they might be.

Especially when we might be afraid of who they might be.
