Sometimes that information is important.
But it seems that just as often what is being shared isn’t even true.
And that’s our challenge: How to share useful information in a healthy way without engaging in unproductive gossip.
The question we should all ask ourselves is what is our motivation for sharing?
To be scandalous? Or to help?
Are we sharing to denigrate or demean a person?
Or are we sharing to rally support for and assistance for someone who may be going through a tough time?
Equally important to me is how we respond to someone else who is spreading malicious gossip.
Do we remind everyone to be compassionate?
Or do we remain silent?
