What to do with your hands while you’re waiting

Advent is a time of waiting. But it is not that we choose to wait. We are forced to wait. We have hope that God's Kingdom will fully come on earth as it is in heaven. As we wait, we still have things to do as we live in this world. Pastor Phil Kniss asked this question of the congregation. "What do we do with our hands as we wait?" Our job during Advent is to attend to what God is doing and to be prepared to join in. Matthew 24:36-44 gives a message that we are to keep watch, to be alert. Jesus calls us to a life-style of paying attention. This is not a message of fear. We can relax and wait.
