Professor Clayborne Carson is a professor of history at Stanford University where he is the Founding Director of the Martin Luther King Research and Education Institute and director of the Martin Luther King Papers Project. When he was 19, he participated in Dr. King’s historic march on Washington on August 28, 1963, and subsequently was active in the nation’s nonviolent civil rights and anti-war movements. He has a distinguished career having taught and lectured at many of the finest universities in the world. His theatrical plays based upon the life and work of Martin luther King have been performed internationally, even translated in Arabic and performed in the West Bank. He also served as an advisor for the MLK National Memorial.

Prof. Carson has written extensively on Martin Luther King, as well as Malcolm X and the African American struggle for freedom during the past 35 years.His most recent book is “Martin’s Dream: My Journey and the Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.” His institute’s website is MLK-KPP01.Stanford.edu, with many resources and information on MLK’s legacy and work.
