I think of this as the last "professional"-sounding program in an extended run of them going back to the new year. Having the benefit of a couple of weeks' time since this program aired, I can tell you that normal--that is to say, goofball--service resumes next time. Anyway, it is always good to hear The Flaming Stars, and, as it often seems, I am bewildered as to how it took so long for them to be featured as "Physical Evidence."We were indeed playing some pretty music on this night! We were indeed playing some pretty music on this night! Dear god, how gorgeous is that Bibio song--and how good was that segue?! It makes up for some of the nonsense transitions that happened later, at least. Two very similar versions of "Another Day": perhaps not the best choice? But it is a nice tune, one which I'd always kind of ignored on that This Mortal Coil album. I've never paid attention to Roy Harper, but the original is nice too. I'll be damned if I let TMC be a gateway for any other musical obsessions, though. My mantra is going to be what Kevin Hewick says during his live set from A Factory Quartet: "Oh yeah, Roy Harper...you'll get Roy Harper later. You probably deserve him."
