This isn’t your grandmother’s stewardship sermon!

Pastor Phil Kniss said that he does not really favor teaching tithing. Our Christian calling is not to return one tenth of our resources to God. Our calling is one of whole life stewardship. This was the main point of the stewardship sermon that Pastor Phil delivered as he concluded his series on renewing life at the table. Genesis 1:26-31 and Matthew 25:14-30 served as the scriptural background to push us to view our giving not as rules-based but as ajoyful response to God's goodness. What does our faith community have to say about how we spend our money? If faith and finances are connected, then perhaps our church DOES have a role in speaking to how we handle our finances!
