Called to deeper places

"Put out into deeper water and let down your nets." This was the command from Jesus to Simon in Luke 5:4. This Simon was a common fisherman who chose to obey. This choice lead Simon to the abundance of deep waters, and provides a glimpse of the power of Jesus. Pastor Barbara Moyer Lehman said that Jesus did not call Simon to something completely different. Rather, Jesus called Simon to a deeper understanding of what Simon was already doing. What does it mean for us to step into deep waters in our families, friendships, or work place? Can we trust Jesus enough to leave the shallow places? What would this look like, and what are our fears?
