I had a chance to sit down recently with Dave Anderson of Pinpoint Multimedia to talk about video. Dave, a video strategist shared some tips for small business owners considering adding video to their website.
He explained:
Power of Video Connections: Video makes a connection that's hard to replicate in other mediums, almost as good as face-to-face interactions. Plus, it's always available, working for you even when you're not actively promoting it.
Content Conciseness is Key: Whether it's for marketing, sales, training, or communication, keep your video content short and to the point. Know your audience and be ready to dive deeper into topics with multiple messages if needed.
Technical Tips and Help: While content reigns supreme, don't overlook the importance of how you shoot your video. Consider seeking professional help if needed to ensure quality production.
Attention Span Realities: On the internet, attention spans are short, typically around 60 seconds. If your content isn't engaging or relevant from the get-go, you risk losing your audience. Aim for concise, impactful messaging within the first 15-30 seconds to hook viewers.
Training Your Audience's Attention: If viewers come with the intention to learn or delve deeper, you might hold their attention span for longer. However, initial engagement often hinges on quick, attention-grabbing content, akin to the length of TV commercials.
