Worship and...Whoops!

Have you ever had expectations of someone and then had those expectations dashed? Remember the disappointment, perhaps the anger, that resulted? Pastor Phil Kniss reminds us that when reading of Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem in Luke 19:28-40, we must go on to read of the disappointment that Jesus was to those who thought that he was going to oust the Roman occupiers. In fact, instead of ousting Romans, Jesus went into the temple and seemed to be attacking the powerful of his own faith tradition. Pastor Phil went on to point out that being a disciple of Jesus was a dangerous path to choose. The disciples simply did not know what was going on, or what was going to happen next.  And that, says Pastor Phil, is just what we should expect from worship. We do not know what will happen as we gather to worship God. Are you ready for the "whoops" when God acts?
