Morning Report 7 June 19: ASX 200 poised for gains on Friday following gains on Wall St

 

US sharemarkets rose on Thursday on growing expectations of a supportive US central bank. Shares also lifted after Bloomberg reported that the US was considering delaying tariffs on Mexico. But US President Trump said that he would decide on whether to levy an additional US$300 billion worth of Chinese tariffs "probably right after the G20" meeting later this month. Shares of Advanced Micro Devices (+7.9%) rose by the most on the S&P500 after Morgan Stanley upgraded the chipmaker's stock to "equal-weight" from "underweight". The Dow Jones index rose by 181 points or 0.7%. The S&P500 index rose by 0.6% and the Nasdaq rose by 40 points or 0.5%.
