EP-177 | A Former Delta Force Operator Finds Solace in Silence and Light

Before Brad was kicking in doors and hunting down bad guys with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and later as a Tier 1 operator in “The Unit” (aka CAG or Delta Force) over the span of his 20-year U.S. Army career, he was shredding the frets on his guitar. He deployed 8 total times in support of combat operations in Mogadishu Somalia, Bosnia, and Herzegovina, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Now he’s formed a band comprised of U.S. veterans known as Silence and Light and they are donating all of their proceeds to veteran supporting organizations.

Fellow members of the band Silence and Light are Fred on vocals who served in the Air Force, Brandon on drums who served as a Marine crew chief on Marine One, the presidents helicopter, Tyson on bass, a former MARSOC raider, and Jason Everman on guitar, who many know from his time with Nirvana and Soundgarden who then joined the Army with 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment and then 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) before leaving the military and becoming a Pat Tillman Scholar.

In this episode, Brad joins Tom, Robert, and Scott to talk about his military career, a song that he wrote immediately following him witnessing a reunion between Tom and another Tier 1 operator, how he redefined himself post transition and some tips that he used that may help you, and why he and fellow band mates feel so strongly about the band Silence and Light.
