Cogitations e3: about mint, anise, and cummin

Many times we are told, don't worry about the small stuff. Jesus teaches the exact opposite of this. He tells the Pharisees that they ought to have focused on the big stuff but NOT to the exclusion of the small stuff. Why do you think we seem to have fostered this lackadaisical attitude toward the governance of God's Word?
