Selkies

From Irish, Scottish and Icelandic folklore, selkies or seal people have been apart of sea faring cultures for several centuries. With its similar counterpart mermaids, selkies are shapeshifters that shed their seal skin and emerge on land in human form to lure unsuspecting men, or women, to fall in love with them. But the only way a person can control a selkie is to hide their seal skin so that they stay in their human form forever.
