Values can mean different things depending on the context. They can mean the beliefs or ideals that guide one's behavior or decisions. They can also mean the worth , merit or importance of something. But today I am talking about the basic and fundamental beliefs that guide or motivate attitudes or actions.
But where have all our values gone too?
What has happened to our American values? Ya know values? Those moral thoughts & behaviors we used to hold so close to our hearts, like respect, civility, honest, decency, optimism, caring, empathy and tolerance?
American children were once taught their significance, and knowledge and education were cornerstones of our achievement. Not anymore.
The values above represent the best of humanity. But not now.
Nowadays the values that are represented are anger, rudeness, hate, greed, lying, selfishness, intolerance and callousness.
We witness the incivility on a daily basis, often expressed as anger and rage. It is commonplace on tv, social media and everyday life. AND the very sad part is that these new "moral standards" serve as the new models for our impressionable kids.
We as the adults and role models need to demonstrate respect, tolerance & caring.
When we express the values most true to us individually, we will create a positive difference, and improve the quality of life for all of us. WE ALL HAVE A CHOICE.
Here is a list of some values:
Bold (Brave, or without fear)
Beautiful (Having an attractive quality that gives pleasure of who experiences it)
Brave (Showing no fear of dangerous of difficult things)
Caring (Someone who is kind and gives emotional support to others)
Courteous (Polite and showing respect)
Dedicated (Believing that an activity or idea is important and giving a lot of energy and time to it)
Determined (resolute, staunch, decided, settled, resolved)
Encouraging (giving courage or confidence or hope)
Empathetic (Understanding and entering into anothesrs feelings)
Family (primarily social group, parents and children)
Fabulous (Extremely pleasing)
