John 13-17
I could talk about God’s unbelievable love he has for us as seen in these chapters. I could even talk about the unity he prayed that we would have in order to not be torn apart by the world. I might even speak about the great advocate that he sent us - the Holy Spirit - Whom speaks the words of Jesus directly to us.
But I just have one thought for you today.
Jesus said in John 17:5, And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the gory I had with you before the world began.
Jesus came to this earth, lived a perfect life, and eventually died on the cross. Yet it wasn’t until he was resurrected that he displayed the full glory of Who he really is. Then, he was made perfect again like the days before creation even began.
There is so much more to know about God than you will ever understand. That is why we are the Bible. It reveals the heart of God. Jesus said, if you know me, then you know the Father. It was funny, because the disciples were like a bunch of kids. I can see them just rolling their eyes out of impatience as they said this next part, “. .. just show us the father then.” It was like they were saying, UGH!!!! Just show us the father!
But here is the truth. We see the heart of God and understand what he is like when we study the scriptures. As we read this part of John, go back and listen to how loving and sincere Jesus was about his people. He truly wants us to know how desperately God loves us. And that, is the heart of God. You can know God, by looking at Jesus.
So may you know that you are loved today! May you look at Jesus, and understand the love the Father has for you. And may you have the Advocate beside you, as you are lead into the presence of the Lord.
