It's official, Kewanee Police Chief Nick Welgat will step down as Kewanee Police Chief next month. Chief Welgat is battling stage four cancer and has told city leaders that he intends on spending as much time with his family as possible. The search is now underway for a new Kewanee Police Chief and Mayor Moore talked about Chief Welgat and the search for a new Kewanee Police Chief this morning on Wake Up Tri-Counties.
