A Nightmare On Elm Street is a 1984 American supernatural slasher film written and directed by Wes Craven and produced by Robert Shaye. It is the first installment in a very large franchise, and stars Heather Langenkamp, John Saxon, Ronnee Blakely, and Johnny Depp in his first major role. Robert England appears as Freddy Kreuger, a character that would become one of the most beloved horror villains of all time.
