Welcome to Everyday Happiness where we create lasting happiness, in 2 minutes a day, through my signature method of Intentional Margins® (creating harmony between your to-dos and your priorities), happiness science, and musings about life.
I'm your host Katie Jefcoat and recently I heard of a technique to raise my personal happiness, and it actually can increase someone else's happiness too.
It’s a letter of gratitude. It’s so simple. Yet, we often don’t take the time to do it - let alone, be intentional on thinking about these gratitudes.
You could write your partner a letter of gratitude, so you can be mindful of the things you are grateful for. Look, we all have those days when it seems like we are not seeing eye to eye. It’s kind of nice to look at this letter and be reminded of why you love and appreciate your partner.
Recently, I wrote an email to my kids’ teachers, sharing with them how grateful we are for their patience and dedication to teaching. It’s a job that takes a special person and knowing how I would crash and burn in that type of job gives me immense gratitude for our teachers. Yet - so many times, we may feel it, but we don’t take the time to write the letter.
Let’s be clear. The letter is for you. If they get a bump in happiness, that’s a bonus. So, will you write a note of gratitude today?
