5. Anna Fowlie, Chief Executive, Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations (SCVO)

Sara Dewar (Leading to Change) is in conversation with Anna Fowlie about her role as Chief Executive of SCVO. They talk about Anna’s career, how early Chief Exec’s got her thinking about leading organisations, who inspired her, her own leadership approach, tough leadership moments, and her view of the what the big issues are in our system.  

Leadership ideas and themes include being interested in people, being curious, purpose driven work, the problem with constantly redefining the problem, collective leadership, empowerment, authenticity, strategic thinking and empathy, working with care-experienced young people, values-led leadership, honesty and courageous conversations.  Anna also talks about lessons lost, reflective practice and peer support during the pandemic period. 

Our purpose is to provide an opportunity to hear from leaders across our wider system and to remind us that there is more that connects us than divides us as we are all human.
