Each culture is derived from its “cult”, its manners and morals from its culture, and its laws from its culture. Catholic philosophy imprinted each of these aspects of modern life. Prominent scholars have made a convincing case that the our Mother Church gave birth to our standards and laws. In the 12th century a catholic jurist named Gratian created the first concordance and codification of international laws, the “Concordia discordantium canonum”. Even our standards governing warfare has been shaped by the Church.
