In the summer of 1974, in the dunes of Provincetown, a coastal resort community on Cape Cod, a teenage girl walking her dog discovered the badly decomposed corpse of a young woman. The woman, eventually named the "Lady of the Dunes," was found lying face down on a beach towel, nude, with a bandanna and a pair of jeans folded beneath her head. Several theories have been made over the years in an attempt to identify the Lady of the Dunes.
