In this episode I chat to Laura about the births of her two children Ester and Teddy.
Laura birthed Ester in hospital as part of the group midwifery program. She was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and went on to have an induced vaginal birth.
When she fell pregnant with Teddy she decided to have a home birth. It was identified at Teddy’s 20 week scan that there was an irregularity with his digestive system, however she was still able to go ahead with her home birth as planned. Teddy had surgery on his intestines at 3 days old so Laura describes what it was like to realise that there was something not right with him and her experience of having a baby in the NICU.
