Morning Report 20 May 21: US sharemarkets fell on Wednesday

Investors digested the minutes from the April 28 Federal Reserve meeting. Energy and materials sectors led the declines. But shares in Target rose 6.1% after first quarter sales topped Wall Street estimates. After being down 587 points at one stage, the Dow Jones index ended lower by 165 points or 0.5%. The S&P 500 index lost 0.3%. And the Nasdaq index fell by 4 points or less than 0.1%.
