Mr. Rogers, my emotional idol, would often say during a time of crisis, “Look for the helpers” -- the people who are trying to build up rather than tear down.
I find it interesting that so many people will nod their heads in agreement with that statement and then one: not help, and two: criticize others who are not helping.
So my question to you is, “Are you a helper?” and before you nod your head in agreement ask yourself, “What have I done to help in the last 24 hours” (and spreading your opinions doesn’t count.)
Are you cheering for first responders?
Taking food to a shut-in?
Calling 5 old friends daily to see how they’re doing?
Offering to help someone?
If Mr. Rogers were looking for helpers, would he see you during this pandemic?
Today, let’s talk about simple ways we can help others during this pandemic.
