Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is like PMS on steroids, it is a constellation of mood, behaviour, and very severe physical symptoms that occurs in a strong cyclical pattern after ovulation. PMDD involves changes to hormone patterns, neurotransmitters as well as the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis which then creates the hell that women can experience for half of their menstrual cycle.
