Morning Report 7 Jan 20: US markets recover from session lows

US sharemarkets lifted from lows on Monday as investors digested tensions between the US and both Iran and Iraq. Oil stocks rose in response to high crude prices. Shares in Google parent, Alphabet, rose by 2.% on a broker upgrade. With an hour of trade to go the Dow Jones index was down by 15 points or 0.1% after earlier being down 216 points. The S&P500 index rose 0.1% and the Nasdaq index lifted 27 points or 0.3%.
